Captain Collette Evans, A320 Captain/Safety Instructor, Aer Lingus
Joined Aer Lingus as a cadet pilot in 1989 and trained in Perth, Scotland for my ATPL licence. On return to Aer Lingus I checked out as a co-pilot on the B737 and got promoted into the left seat, Captains role almost nine years later. I’m currently an A320 Captain and also have the role of Safety Instructor and CRMI (facilitator and examiner). I have one years experience flying for the Dutch airline Transavia. Previous to my career in Aer Lingus, I was an Air Traffic Controller based in the High Level Sector of Shannon ATC. 

Outside of aviation I am a mother of two teenagers, Christopher and Juliette and my husband is an A330 Captain. I also held the role of Chairperson of a Primary Montessori School board in Dublin from 2007 to 2009.

Current position as Cabin Crew Safety Instructor and Cabin Service Manager on A330/320/321. I’ve worked in Aer Lingus for 18 years, starting on the ground as a Customer Service Agent in Dublin Airport, working in boarding and baggage tracing. I moved to the air in 2004 as Cabin Crew, promoted to SCCM two years later in 2006 and joined the Aer Lingus Training Academy in 2013 as SEPI/CRMI. When not training I now fly as Cabin Manager on our A330 fleet primarily across the Atlantic. 

The Benefits of Fully Integrated CRM
In this presentation we will discuss how Aer Lingus has developed a fully integrated recurrent CRM program which is facilitated jointly by pilot and cabin crew instructors to joint pilot and cabin crew classes. We will discuss the benefits we have seen as a result and how we are building on this model to roll out fully integrated CRM and OCC course and new entrant courses. This ethos puts training at the core. We will also discuss how we developed a simple exercise for CRM which has opened our eyes to potential problems in the operation and how our crews relate to each other, we will share some of the data we gathered and how we are using it to develop our future CRM training.
